Thermal conductivity of materials - measurement

Thermal conductivity / Thermal resistance

Laboratory of Thermal Units department at CMI RB Praha offers accredited measurement of thermal conductivity of thermally-insulating material in two-specimen arrangement following ISO 8302 and EN 12667 standards.

The device works with specimens based on rigid foams and plastics with the thickness of (4.7 to 34) mm and 100 mm diameter. Thermal conductivity (0.01 to 1) W m-1 K-1 can be measured at average temperature (0 to 40) °C with total temperature range of (-5 to 65) °C.

Temperature is measured with platinum resistance thermometers and controlled with set of Peltier cells. The measurement uncertainty is calculated foe each specific measurement according to JCGM 100:2008 document with typical value ranging from 1.5 to 5 %.
